About Rita: My name is Rita. I come from Greece where I grew up in a family of artisan stone workers. Our home was built with stone walls, marble floors, marble counter tops and stone sinks. My school trips and family outings always brought me even closer to the beauty of natural stone whether I was visiting the Parthenon or the exquisite stone cliffs that meet the beach. I have deep respect for nature’s creations and I am fascinated by the colors that are hidden in the earth.
Favorite Stone: It is difficult for me to pick a favorite stone. I feel that all stones are Mother Nature’s children and I love them all. I pick my favorite per project. Although I have to say that Blue Louise takes my breath away!
Favorite Part of My Job: My favorite part of my job is helping clients select the perfect granite or marble color that will complement their space and add timeless beauty and value to their home. I enjoy the awe people express when they walk through our stone yard and see slabs in colors and patterns they never imagined could be real natural products of nature.
Strengths: I approach each client with the will and desire to give them a fun and educational experience and also to help them track their selections all with respect for each client’s taste and budget. It is sheer joy for me to see that after the initial overwhelming feeling of “Wow…How do you pick one”? we are able to pick that one stone that they really fall in love with! I love seeing that the European style building, flooring, outdoor living space has become a very desirable style for homeowners in America. With my 30 years of expertise in the stone world, I am confident that I can help my clients meet or exceed their expectations for a beautiful floor, kitchen, bathroom, fireplace or accent stone wall design.
Bio: I graduated High School in the United States, obtained a teaching degree in English and taught English In Greece for many years. When I moved back to the United States 20 years ago I went back to my passion and started my own Stone Masonry Business, where I undertake new construction stone home projects as well as restoration of old stone buildings, walls, outdoor living spaces, etc. As one of few women doing business in the man’s world of stone masonry I have received much praise and write ups in various Home Design Magazines.
Hobbies: My favorite thing to do in my free time is to cook and entertain with friends and family. I especially love summer time when I can have great times in my back yard, swimming and cooking in my outdoor kitchen!
Favorite Project: White Reef granite on dark cabinets blended seamlessly with the ocean view through the huge windows of this kitchen in my customers Queenstown, Maryland home.
