Preparing for Installation

Before our team arrives at your home, there are several steps you can take to prepare:

  • Clear a path from your kitchen or bathroom to the nearest entrance of your home. This will reduce the amount of maneuvering the team must do when bringing in the stone.
  • Ensure that pets, children, and any breakable items are not in the area while the stone is being carried into your home.
  • Cover any nearby furniture and valuables with a protective sheet.
Tear Out

Old countertops need to be removed entirely before our team arrives at your home. If it is within our scope of work, we will be able to carefully remove them for you. The old countertops will be removed from the cabinets and hauled away. To ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible, our experienced countertop installation team takes the necessary precautions to avoid any damage to surrounding areas.

Installation

Once the old surfaces are removed, the new countertops are laid on the cabinetry. It’s imperative that the cabinets are as level as possible before the stone is put in place. Epoxy is then used at the seams of your stone to cement the pieces together. Once the seams dry, the excess epoxy and dust will be removed, leaving only smooth seams.

Cut Out & Backsplash Installation

Depending on your project, the installers may need to cut out the holes for the sink, faucet, or cooktop on-site. The countertop installation team will finish the cuts inside once the stone is set on the counters. If you have ordered a backsplash or a sink, the team will then proceed with installing those finishing touches as well.

Cleaning Up

Once the team has done a final examination and ensured the stone is secured in place, they will clean up the job site, provide you with instructions on how to care for your new countertops, finish any paperwork, and leave you to enjoy your new countertops!

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some tips to get started taking measurements of your countertops:

  • Draw a to-scale diagram of your countertop space. Make sure to include backsplash areas as well as spaces for your sink, cooktop, faucets, and other features that factor into the dimensions.
  • Using a tape measure, measure the countertop length from wall to wall. Write down the length in the respective space on your drawing. Ensure accuracy by measuring twice!
  • Measure the countertop depth. Standard countertop depth is typically 25.5 inches for a granite countertop; this is the typical overhang for traditional 24-inch cabinets.
  • Measure backsplash height.

The scope and size of your countertop installation determines how long the process will take. While relatively straightforward countertop installations typically lend themselves to shorter timeframes, more sizable — or unique — projects may take longer. Rest assured that our countertop installers offer the same expertise and meticulous attention to detail regardless of project size! Our team will walk you through the process, providing you with upfront quotes before starting and informing you of up-to-date timelines throughout the project.

Absolutely! Since kitchen and bathroom upgrades are some of the most popular renovations homeowners make before selling, installing new countertops is an effective — and eye-catching — way to add value to your home.
